For those of you who may have read off from this post here: aes-sedai-and-wot.deviantart.c… the artist of all the Wheel of Time novels, Darrell Sweet, recently passed away. Brandon Sanderson had written an entry dedicated to the artist here: www.brandonsanderson.com/blog/…
Though Darrell's covers for the WoT novels have ranged from appreciation to mockery, the novels will not feel the same without his artwork stamped on them. Who knows if they will use his concept work for the last few novels when they're released
To be honest, I hated most of his artwork; he did a terrible job of staying true to the extensive physical descriptions in the book. On the other hand, I thought he did a good job with Eye of the World.
Rest in Peace Darrell Sweet.
He was the initial reason I started reading WoT(afterwards it was because of the amazing story) His art drew me in and enchanted me. He will be sorely missed
So sad, R.I.P Darrell you were an exceptional artist.
Was so sad to hear of his passing, we seem to have lost so many truly gifted artists and writers over the last few years
In the spirit of the series, I hope that they continue what he started as well.
